The Concrete Jungle

My shoe calendar this morning read: Wednesday September 30th 2015, adorned with a spectacular shoe of course - today's feature being a gilded, leather "Helix Hi" ankle boot with crisscrossing straps, (United Nude 2013). Following my daily dose of shoe-spiration, I became instantaneously overwhelmed, the beginning of October is upon us people. Truly surreal to think that just one year ago I was a 1st year student at GCC, looking forward to my first trip/event with the Fashion Business Program. Now, in precisely seven days, I will be hitting the skies, headed to NYC to:
•visit showrooms/brands/offices:

1. Tommy Hilfiger: Accompanied so graciously by an esteemed GCC Fashion Business Program Alumni, Kristyna Jaquin.
Things to know/check out before the trip or for more information?!

2. Buffalo David Bitton #inthebuff: Touring and hosted by the amazing Diane Alexander (PR Director). Diane has been such a huge contact for our program professionally and socially. Additionally, we have been so lucky to work with her and the Buffalo David Bitton brand, to incorporate some of their collections/garments in scenes for our annual fashion show for several years. The potential that we might be granted the opportunity to do so again is thrilling, they're clothes are always super chic and trendy.[stay tuned this year also just so happens to be our 35th annual show, definitely a spring 2016 must-see event!] One can only hope that we will be immensely inspired by our findings from the trip this year, keep up with my posts as well as the rest of the Fashionistas/o's ----> through #GCCinNYC, all over social media!*THEIR BLOG - all over social media, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest and YouTube.

"From humble beginnings, the Buffalo David Bitton brand has always been a family affair. Founded in Montreal more than 20 years ago, the Buffalo brand is a leader in the denim industry.

By offering multiple denim styles and a full fashion collection, Buffalo’s clothing and accessories are made for fashion savvy men and women aged 18-34, who are fashion innovators seeking effortless style. The collections are as unique as the individuals that wear them. With a long standing tradition of quality, Buffalo has never been one to sacrifice substance for style.

Buffalo David Bitton is an iconic lifestyle brand that translates across international boundaries. Through the years the brand has continued to evolve into the denim empire it is today, with stores spanning 18 countries and 3000 locations worldwide. You can also find us in better department stores across North America such as the Hudson Bay company, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Dillard’s and Lord & Taylor.

We are Iconic. We are fashion. We are Denim. We are Buffalo."

Chandler Parsons for Buffalo David Bitton (2014) Chandler Parsons stated, “I’m very excited to partner with Buffalo Jeans. I’ve gotten to know the brand; their style and culture reflects a lot of things in my life. I love the way the clothes fit and get compliments on their stuff all the time. They’re about being young, looking good, and having fun.”

3.CollegeFashionista: Thank you so much in advance, to the Brand Marketing Director, Sammy Walsh for helping us set this up. As a second semester style guru myself, I was so excited to help coordinate this trip for my classmates, professors and I. This meet-up and introductory/information session will undoubtedly be extra rad! ---> check out my latest post featuring a Fashionista from the program, also attending the NYC trip with us! 4. BrandLink Communications: Samantha Tyrell, professional in the industry as well as alumni will be giving us the rundown in the financial district!
"BrandLink Communications is a full-service media relations, marketing and special events agency that focuses on the luxury, consumer goods, fashion, beauty, hospitality, and entertainment industries."

5. National Arts Club: Last, but certainly not least, everyone on the trip has been invited to a Fashion Speak Friday event. The topic last year was menswear the the event was top-notch; informative but still the epitome of style and class. The topic for Friday, October 9 will be: Steampunk revolution (if this is a foreign term check out the rest of my blog for more information and examples of the fashions). This event would not have been possible last year or next week without of course, David Zyla,to whom we are eternally grateful!

•transfer schools of interest for potential visits/tours, with the program or privately: LIM watch their 2015 Fashion Show as we will be hearing from the coordinator of the show, FIT and their spectacular Museum, Parsons School of Design - of course they also have a fabulous, student-run blog with countless must-read articles!
•food •fashion •events •art
•shopping: If you know of any MUST see vintage stores or just city landmarks, don't hesitate to share them I need/love suggestions.
•photography •blogging
and so much more.

This will be my second official #GCCinNYC trip; an integral part of the real-life experience, that I will of course be graduating with, in May of 2016. As a veteran of this awesome "program perk" I am so excited  that we will be able to visit the Buffalo David Bitton showroom! This was absolutely pivotal for our program because thanks to the wonderful, Diane Alexander, we have been lucky to incorporate their brand in our annual fashion show.

“Partnering with Buffalo David Bitton has been a dream job," Adrian shared. "I get to hang out on the rooftops of downtown LA and shoot with the beautiful Barbara Palvin. She’s very charismatic and we had a nice vibe.”
Barbara added about her fave pieces, "My favorite piece from the fall collection was the leather motorcycle jacket, I loved the relaxed edginess of it."
